Terms of service
The agreement between MLJ, SASU and the instructors and flight schools that use PreflightLog. Written to be read, not to be skimmed. Last updated on March 2, 2026.
1. Acceptance
These terms form a binding agreement between you, whether you sign up as an individual instructor or on behalf of a flight school, and MLJ, SASU, SIREN 934 769 837, publisher of PreflightLog. You accept them by creating an account, by using the service, or by paying an invoice for it. If you are accepting on behalf of a company, a flying club or a school, you confirm that you have the authority to bind that organization. If you do not accept these terms, do not use the service.
2. What the service is
PreflightLog is a hosted web application for flight training record keeping. It records lesson grades against the tasks and areas of operation of the Airman Certification Standards, keeps a history of the endorsements an instructor has issued together with their dates and regulation references, counts aeronautical experience such as cross country legs, night landings, simulated instrument time and solo hours, and produces a stage check readiness view for each student. It also provides an instructor handoff file, a quiet roster report and data export in PDF and CSV form.
PreflightLog is a record keeping aid. It is not an electronic pilot logbook of record, it is not approved training courseware, and it does not issue, sign or validate any endorsement. The certificated flight instructor who signs an endorsement remains solely and personally responsible for its content, its wording, its currency and its regulatory correctness, and for every instructional decision made about a student. You agree not to rely on the software as a substitute for your own verification of a student's eligibility, currency or readiness.
3. Accounts and eligibility
You must be at least eighteen years old and legally able to enter a contract. You are responsible for the accuracy of the account details you provide, for keeping your password confidential, and for everything done under your login. Each instructor login is personal and may not be shared between two people; if a second instructor needs access, add a login on a plan that allows it. Tell us promptly at the contact address below if you believe an account has been used without your permission.
4. Acceptable use
Use PreflightLog for its purpose: managing the training records of students you or your school actually instruct. You agree not to attempt to gain access to another account, to probe or interfere with the security of the service, to resell or sublicense access, to copy the interface or the underlying data model into a competing product, to upload malicious code, or to enter information about a person who has no connection to your training operation. We may suspend an account that is being used in one of these ways, and we will explain why in writing.
5. Subscription, prices and billing
The service is offered on three monthly plans, priced in US dollars: Independent CFI at $25 per month for one instructor login and up to twenty active students, Flight School at $79 per month for up to eight instructor logins and up to ninety active students, and Academy at $179 per month for unlimited instructor logins and unlimited active students. Every plan includes every feature described for it on the pricing section of the home page. There is no setup fee.
Subscriptions are billed monthly in advance on the calendar day the account was opened. If you move to a higher plan during a month, the difference is prorated on the next invoice; if you move to a lower plan, the change takes effect at the start of the next billing period. Prices may change with at least thirty days notice by email, and a change never applies to a period you have already paid for. Applicable taxes are added where the law requires it. If a payment fails, we retry it and write to you before any suspension.
6. Cancellation and suspension
You may cancel at any time from the billing screen inside your account, without giving a reason and without an exit fee. The plan then runs to the end of the period you have already paid for and does not renew. Amounts already paid for the current period are not refunded, except where consumer law in your jurisdiction requires otherwise. After cancellation your data stays available in read only form for sixty days so that you can complete your exports, and it is permanently deleted after that window unless you ask us to keep it.
We may suspend or end an account for non payment after notice, for a serious breach of the acceptable use section, or if we are required to do so by law. Where the fault is ours, we refund the unused portion of the period.
7. Your data belongs to you
All student records, lesson grades, endorsement history, notes and files you put into PreflightLog remain yours or your school's. We do not claim ownership, we do not sell them, and we do not use them to train models or to build products for anyone else. We process them only to operate the service for you, to keep backups, and to provide support when you ask for it. You can export everything at any time in PDF and CSV form. You are responsible for having a lawful basis to hold information about your students and for telling them how you use it.
8. Availability and support
We target 99.9 percent monthly availability and we publish planned maintenance in advance, scheduled at night in United States time zones wherever possible. Support is provided by email during French business hours; Academy accounts have a two hour target response on weekdays. No hosted service is available continuously, and we do not promise uninterrupted operation.
9. Warranty disclaimer
The service is provided as it stands and as it is available. To the fullest extent the law allows, MLJ, SASU disclaims all implied warranties, including merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose and non infringement. We do not warrant that the software will be free of errors, that a readiness figure will match an examiner's judgment, or that the endorsement library reflects every regulatory change on the day it takes effect. You remain responsible for verifying regulatory text before you sign anything.
10. Limitation of liability
To the fullest extent permitted by law, MLJ, SASU is not liable for indirect or consequential loss, including lost training revenue, canceled practical tests, examiner fees, aircraft rental costs, loss of reputation or loss of data caused by your own deletion. Our total liability for any claim arising out of or connected to the service is limited to the fees you paid in the twelve months before the event giving rise to the claim. Nothing in these terms limits liability for fraud, for gross negligence, or for anything that cannot lawfully be limited.
11. Indemnity
You agree to hold MLJ, SASU harmless from any third party claim arising from the information you enter into the service, from your use of it in breach of these terms, or from an instructional or regulatory decision you made, including a claim brought by a student, an employer or an aviation authority.
12. Changes to these terms
We may update these terms to reflect a change in the service or in the law. The current version always sits on this page with its update date. Material changes are announced by email at least thirty days before they take effect, and continuing to use the service after that date means you accept them. If you do not, cancel before the date and the old terms apply until your paid period ends.
13. Governing law and jurisdiction
These terms are governed by French law. Any dispute that cannot be settled amicably falls under the exclusive jurisdiction of the competent courts of Paris, France. Mandatory consumer protection rules of your state or country of residence that cannot be set aside by contract continue to apply to you.
